Criteria Artists members are carefully screened and selected for participation. Criteria include: financial need, evidence of on-going commitment to art making as a professional pursuit, and commitment to cooperative values. Members represent a diverse group of urband families earning between $25,000 and $57,000 anually. |

Self-Management Acme Community members have a vested interest in maintenance of the facility and will directly manage the building themselves. Members make the rules and regulations and are responsible for enforcement. Training assistance is provided by the Chicago Mutual Housing Network. |

Financing The acquisition loan was coordinated by the Chicago Community Loan Fund. Predevelopmet has been financed through variety of pubic and private sources including the Illinois Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts Design Grant, HUD capacity building grant. Acme serves as demonstration model for the city of Chicago, Department of Housing, Homes for Chicago, Condominium program. Income qualified families will receive home buyer assistence subsidies as second mortgages. |
